August Full Moon Friday 12th August 02:35 AM GMT

The full moon in Aquarius is always a potent time as both of the luminaries (the Sun and Moon) are strong, astrologically speaking. Much can come to light at this time, which is usually a time of revelation or realisation. This month, the use of power is what is in focus. There is a heavy emphasis on the fixed signs this month, so what is occurring right now is going to be embedded into the collective consciousness for some time to come.

Firstly, we have the Sun in Leo and Moon in Aquarius. This represents the drive for personal gain opposing the need for the wellbeing of the collective good. We are all working out how to meet our own individual needs but simultaneously realising that we have to consider how we live with other people in the world and what we want our collectives to look like. So, expect a lot of debate and controversy around that for the rest of the month.

Saturn is conjunct the Moon, and Saturn is strong in Aquarius as it is its co-ruler. Together, they suggest there is a lot of concern for how we are going to move forward. Saturn can be a bit of a downer energy, especially when coupled with the Moon, and can bring introspection and depression. There will be a lot of emotional realisations for the rest of this month and basically awareness that reality, represented by Saturn, will always win in the end. An example of this is that in the UK media today, a class action lawsuit against the Tavistock Clinic, the UK centre for gender treatment, is going to be subject to a mass class action lawsuit. Saturn brings endings and metes out hard and harsh lessons. In such a case as this, the lessons will be hard and harsh for most of those involved. It’s a good indication of how you can balance the needs of the individual effectively through group action. It’s no coincidence that the Moon and Saturn are in Aquarius, which typically represents androgyny in astrology. So, reflecting on how we can use power individually and in groups is productive this month.

Squaring the Sun, Moon and Saturn is Uranus conjunct the North Node in Taurus. This aspect is about relinquishing control of others and attracting resources for the self and using new and innovative ways to do so. Therefore, the evolutionary pressure is to develop awareness of our power and begin to use it to build the life we want. At the risk of sounding like a broken record (as I’ve spoken about this a lot in past readings), if you are able to develop some sort of side-hustle right now, this is an excellent time to do so, as Uranus in Taurus is all about a shake-up of how we gather resources for ourselves, and the North Node here tells us this is the direction we need to move in. This will become even more pressing from the 24th as Uranus turns retrograde, which is always a time to reflect on recent changes we have made.

The missing ‘leg’ of this fixed T-square is Scorpio. In this chart, Scorpio is empty, so we can look to Pluto and Mars (co-ruler of Scorpio) for indications to resolve this aspect. Pluto is opposite Venus in very early Leo. As Venus is the ruler of Taurus, this emphasises the tension over control of resources, but Pluto makes an encouraging trine to Mars in Taurus. This suggests that we are being driven to master our own will and learn how to use it in the world to make the changes we desire. Mars and Pluto both make a sextile to Neptune, which indicates that using our dreams and inspirations and helping them to become a reality is possible. It’s a good time to finalise any plans of this nature now, as Mars will move into Gemini at the end of the month, which means the physical surge of energy we have been receiving from Mars in Taurus will be gone.

There is also a minor aspect between Pluto and Mercury in Virgo. It seems that this aspect will basically be a background noise for the rest of the month – but present nonetheless. As Virgo encompasses health, we can expect a lot of control around ‘health speech’, if you catch my drift, but as Mercury moves into a trine from the 22nd, this aspect will become a lot easier and we are going to see more people speaking out about the links between recent health complications and the influence of Big Pharma.

This issue is also highlighted by Chiron in Aries, making a trine to the Sun. There will be more information coming out about health problems (heart problems are indicated with the Sun in Leo) and people demanding action being taken. This is a very fiery placement and one prone to anger and emphatic calls for change and accountability.

So, basically there will be a lot going on over the next couple of weeks. It will be a tumultuous time, with people fighting for control of the fixed quality energy (because it lends itself to permanence). Focus on where you can grow your own power, both individually and in groups. Concentrate on how you would like to see your life change with unwavering intent, as the cosmic conditions right now are very supportive.
