Aries New Moon Friday, 1st April 2022 07:24am GMT

This new moon is in Aries, marking the beginning of the next growing season of the year. This year the potential for new growth will be particularly potent and fecund as April is a black moon month, which means there are two new moons in one month. The second new moon will be on the 30th and in the sign of Taurus, so this month the focus is very much on our passions (Aries) and values (Taurus), and how we can integrate them more fully into our everyday lives. This is represented by the full moon in Libra, which will occur between the two new moons.

The Moon forms part of a stellium in Aries, along with the Sun, Mercury and Chiron. So, this is a really good time to think about new approaches to old wounds you have in your life or to release them entirely, allowing more productive energy to enter. Although this new moon is in Aries, which is usually a highly active and dynamic sign, the stars suggest that the activity for this month should be turned inwards to focus on the self, to spend time actively thinking about what it is that you want to achieve for the next year.

I say this because black moon months mark the beginning of a two to three-year cycle, which commences at the black moon, the second new moon of the month, which will be the one in Taurus on the 30th. The new moon before it, however, which this one is, is the time to start preparing and thinking about how to use that energy.

It is also worth remembering that Neptune and Jupiter, two big spiritual planets, are about to come together in a blissful conjunction in Pisces. This will be in effect from the 8th-12th this month, so this will be another fantastic opportunity to gain some spiritual insight as to your way forward.

Obviously, there will also be challenges this month. The north node in Taurus is square Saturn, Venus and Mars in Aquarius. This indicates that restrictions, shortages and financial difficulties are all indicated and will be until the 5th, when Venus moves off into Pisces. However, we will still have a Saturn and Mars conjunction to contend with, which can denote conflict and stubbornness in relationships with others around that time.

Pluto makes a supportive aspect to the north node, signifying the evolutionary purpose behind all this is about regeneration and necessary destruction of the old ways of being. Pluto is in Capricorn, so our established institutions and structures are all undergoing a very necessary death process right now. It can be painful to watch, as death can sometimes be, but it is necessary for us to go forward. It’s no coincidence, for example, that we are seeing the death of the petrodollar currently, not just because of Pluto aspecting the north node but due to the US going through its Pluto return in February. Pluto is a great leveller and he always wins in the end. He is about cutting back to what we only truly need and getting real. Is it wise to be so dependent upon other countries for fuel and food, for example? Is it wise to just print more money, repeatedly, to escape debt? Expect such questions to be answered in real time over the next year. Again, they are difficult questions but ones we must answer – and answer honestly of we are to survive.

It may seem very unstable in the outer world right now but this is due to necessary changes being triggered, as outlined above. Despite this, there are also some very harmonious transits occurring this month, which if used well will show you the steps you need to take to ride the coming waves with agility and ease. Have an active internal life this month. Making a point of taking time out, if possible, will help mitigate this greatly.
