Sagittarius Full Moon Wednesday, 26th May 2021 12:13 PM GMT

This full moon is also a total lunar eclipse, as well as being a Supermoon, so its effects will be potent and long-lasting. An eclipse of any kind represents a coming together of the luminaries and setting into motion of energies of a kind that will not be realised until about nine months later, as an eclipse is an act of conception, so eclipse moons are very potent to work with and have long-lasting effects of change and re-invigoration.

This full moon is in the sign of Sagittarius, the sign of big visions, philosophy and light in the darkness. The Sun is in Gemini, the sign of messages, intelligence and communications. Between them, they rule communications of all kinds, including with the gods and the ancestors, so these are the energies in play this month and the effects of the meeting of these energies will linger for quite a while.

These planets fall across a part in the chart that represents the past and the future, and also where we have come from and where we wish to go. It also represents our inner life and how we tend to present ourselves to the outside world. So, what we believe in and how we communicate our beliefs to the outside world are dominant this month – and they are not always, and often not, the same thing. In the macrocosm, this is being expressed most explicitly in the ongoing Israel/Palestine tension which has flared up again over the past fortnight. At the root of it is belief that both sides have an inalienable right to be in the region, which is supported by the religious texts and teachings of both sides. As the Sun and North Node are in Gemini, it does suggest that diplomacy and talks will prevail in this region as opposed to all-out war – but the T-square with Jupiter in Pisces on the cusp of the seventh house, which deals with contracts, suggests no treaties will be signed.

On a more personal level, this means that many of us will be experiencing a time of reminiscence in some way, reconnecting with our youth, old beliefs/ideals which we have compromised on and allowed to let slide. It is a good idea to take note of what comes up in your personal lives in that regard, as these ideals and truths are what feeds us, whether we are conscious of it or not, so giving extra attention to our deepest beliefs, our connections with the gods and our ancestors is highlighted this month, as it will help us see what direction is best for us in the future.

As for the other planets, Mercury and Venus makes a hard square to Neptune. There are a lot of intelligent and compassionate forces around this month but their influences be very subtle and hidden, so it’s a good opportunity to hone your intuitive skills and become aware of its influence. On a more mundane level, it’s not a good time to sign any contracts and everyday communications may be challenging for the next few days. It will soon pass but it’s just something to be aware of.

Mars and Neptune make a supportive aspect to each other, which suggests that many countries will be moving out of lockdown or restrictions will continue to ease, and socialising and get-togethers are on the minds of many as we approach summer. It looks as if there may be some mixed messages in the media about this, but that we will generally be heading in the direction of restrictions easing rather than tightening.

The Uranus and Saturn square continues to exert its influence – this energy acts like a backdrop to the current times, rather than exerting a direct influence, although obviously it depends on your own natal chart as to how strongly that influence resonates with you (you will experience this influence more directly if you have your natal Sun or Moon sitting where Uranus or Saturn currently are, for example). Currently, this is in an area of the chart affecting travel, foreign relations and growth as well as health, mundane work and details. So this suggests that the lockdown restrictions are one area where this force is manifesting.

Finally, there is a lovely supportive aspect between the North Node, Chiron and Saturn. This is a gentle reminder that as we work with the potent energies of the eclipse we must remember to take care of our physical needs. Although the concept of ‘healthy body, healthy mind’ is already established, over the coming years we will see just how truly dependent the body and mind are on each other, how they mirror each other and how the optimal health of both is imperative as we move forward.
